We all have genders. We all have races. And we all have ways that we go about thinking about those things. Emi Koyama's piece "Whose feminism is it anyway? The unspoken racism of the trans inclusion debate" addresses the specific issues of race and racism in the transgender community and transgender activism. This piece will bring a new perspective on both gender and race to the table.
This event is a discussion of the article, available on Emi Koyama's personal website.
Refreshments will be provided.

Breakfast On Pluto
Both epic and intimate, Breakfast on Pluto uses the life of Patrick "Kitten" Braden (Cillian Murphy), a queer orphan boy, to explore the hidden worlds that lie beneath so-called "normal" society. Left on the doorstep of a parish priest (Liam Neeson) in a small Irish village, Kitten is placed in the home of a lady shopkeeper who hasn't the ability to cope with, let alone nurture, a cross-dressing boy all to quickly developing into a flamboyantly gay man. One confrontation too many and Kitten hits the road in search of love and the mother who abandoned him. His resulting adventures include professional and romantic entanglements, prostitution, mistaken identity, false imprisonment, attempted murder and, most poignantly, a happy ending.
