- The month of May came to a close on a very high note for the organization! With the exceptional work of members of the INTRAA team, INTRAA is now officially a 501(c4) organization! A task-force is currently focused on getting the 501(c3) paperwork done by the end of the year.
- INTRAA has welcomed its very first interns for the summer of 2007! Aastik Pokhrel, a soon to be Junior in Gender Studies at Hanover College, is working as the Legislative Intern, and Carrie Wooten, a soon to be Senior in Women's Studies at Purdue University, is working as the Development Associate Intern. Both students are thrilled to be working with INTRAA and getting to know the trans community. If you are planning on attending the many Pride events this summer in Indiana, you'll be sure to see them working the crowds!
- One of INTRAA's goals this summer is to visit and have meetings in the various regions. We have already visited in Bloomington and Lafayette, and are planning more trips including ones to Fort Wayne and South Bend in the coming weeks!
- INTRAA was present at the Spencer/Owen County PFLAG Pride picnic held on Saturday, June 2nd, 2007. Ed Fox, Nick Clarkson, Carrie Wooten, and Aastik Pokhrel all drove down to Spencer to attend. Ed manned an information table with INTRAA literature and spoke with visitors and fellow organizers, and the other three spent much of the afternoon speaking with members of the HRC and Log-Cabin Republicans, as well as the wonderful PFLAG parents. The picnic (the first PFLAG event in Spencer County) was a huge success, with between thirty and forty people in attendence and numerous activities for all to enjoy.
- INTRAA have been actively involved in assisting an incarcerated transwoman here in Indiana. A national team of lawyers and trans activists have been working on her case and attempting to better ensure her safety while in prison. A group of INTRAA board members and regular members have been visiting with and writing to her regularly.
- INTRAA's Lafayette Area Coordinator is planning a gender identity and expression forum to be held in Lafayette in September. Groups like Lafayette's HRC and Citizens for Civil Rights are joining the cause to help pass a more inclusive city ordinance. More information on this event will be available in the near future!
- An INTRAA drag show is being planned for July 19th at Talbott Street! Make sure you get this on your calendar! More details coming soon!
- Thanks to the fundraising efforts of our members and allies, INTRAA has taken in around $5,800 since January! With the continued help of our supporters, we are positive that this is just the beginning of what is sure to be an enormously successful year!
