3. Grievance Procedure

These protocols are intended to provide for effective moderation, while allowing for free and open discussion that respects all Participant's Rights And Responsibilities. They also are intended to prevent any person or group from taking over control of the information exchange through censorship or intimidation. Participants and Moderators shall work within the bounds of the
protocols as set forth below:

I. GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE

  1. Any participant, including one who is also acting as moderator, has the right to file a grievance when offensive content is posted.
  2. A complaint may be made by filling out the Grievance Form online.
  3. All complaints should contain the user name(s) of the poster(s), the user name(s) of the complainant(s) and links to or copies of offending comments or posts. Anonymous complaints will not be considered.
  4. A formal complaint must always include a description of the offense and copies of objectionable material.

II. MODERATION PROCEDURE

  1. No action is taken until a complaint has been submitted.
  2. A course of action should be agreed upon by more than one moderator prior to initiating sanctions.
  3. Extreme discretion should be exercised before entering into sanction procedures. Moderators may choose to issue informal reminders rather than escalate a situation.
  4. In cases of disagreement between moderators, a course of action shall be agreed upon with assistance of the Communications Director and/or the Board President.
  5. The above notwithstanding, posts containing spam, advertisements, sexual solicitation, pornographic information or links, overtly offensive or obscene language, hate speech, or encouragement of others to engage in violent, dangerous, or illegal activity can be removed immediately by a moderator.

III. SANCTIONS

  1. Posts containing content in violation of the INTRAA Acceptable Use Policy may be edited to remove the offending material.
  2. Any post edited by a moderator under the above rule will include a MODERATOR COMMENT at the end of the post to notify that the post was edited to comply with the Online Community Discussion Policy.
  3. Any user who posts content in violation of the policy may, at the discretion of the moderators, be placed into moderated status. While in moderated status, all posts from that user must be approved by a moderator prior to appearing on the site.
  4. Any user placed in moderated status may be taken off moderation status if after a period of one (1) week she/he has not submitted any content in further violation of the Discussion Policy.
  5. Users who continually or flagrantly violate the Acceptable Use Policy may, at the discretion of the moderators, be permanently blocked from further participation in the Online Community.
  6. For significant violations including, but not limited to, illegal activity or threats of imminent harm, we reserve the right to pursue legal action, which may include reporting the user to his/her internet service provider or contacting local, state or federal law enforcement authorities.
