ISNA is hosting the First DSD Symposium, a gathering of intersex adults, parents, and allied healthcare professionals. This is your chance to meet and learn from others working to improve the quality of healthcare for families with children born with Disorders of Sex Development, and for adults dealing with the many ongoing healthcare concerns that result from DSDs.
The conference takes place in San Francisco, at the Parc 55 Hotel, Friday October 13 thru Sunday October 15.
The DSD Symposium is a mini-conference, held within the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association’s annual conference. Registrants to the GLMA conference are welcome to attend all DSD Symposium presentations. Those who are specifically interested in DSDs may register for the DSD Symposium only, at a reduced rate ($125 thru September 15; $150 afterward).

Bloomington TG Group is a social and educational peer support group serving the TransGender community of Southern Indiana.
In October, representatives from Indiana Equality will be in attendance at this meeting.
The Bloomington TG group meets on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
Note: The meeting is no longer a “pitch-in” or “pot luck” meeting, but some of us go out to dinner afterwards.
There are facilities to "change & makeup".
Purpose: To provide a positive and supportive environment for all of our brothers and sisters in the TransGender community. This is an opportunity to meet others in the local community, to provide a safe place to go for those who are not "out", and an opportunity for those who are "out" to share their experiences. It is our hope that this will be both fun and educational.

The second annual Transsistahs and Transbrothas Conference will again be held at the Galt House Hotel in Louisville, KY.
To all prospective conference attendees and trans-allies everywhere:
In every struggle, there are as many paths to civil liberty and justice as there are opinions. From the initial formation of our conference, there have been many voices that have been opposed to our own. There are some who believe that our efforts are about self-aggrandizement and motivated solely by ego. Nothing could be further from the truth. Many of us have experienced classism and other such “isms” that have kept us apart and separate. As transpeople of color, we are doubly aware of how these “isms” can render people powerless and deny access to people and systems that would empower us. We have stated from the beginning that we are not calling for separation from our White transbrothers and sisters or from any other trans-population of color – not even from our lesbian sisters, gay brothers, and bisexual persons.

An evening with Jennifer Miller, a lesbian performer who lives her life with a full beard. Miller works as a performance artist, circus director, clown and as the "bearded lady" in one of the only remaining sideshows in America "Circus Amok." In public she is often mistaken for a man, an experience she handles with wit and intelligence that characterizes her performances.
Community Forum on the Proposed “Marriage Amendment”
Political, Biological, Sociological, Theological Perspectives
What are the ramifications and social justice implications of this amendment for all the people of Indiana?
The proposed amendment:
“(a) Marriage in Indiana consists only of the union of one man and one woman.
(b) This Constitution or any other Indiana law may not be construed to require that marital status, or the legal incidents of marriage be conferred upon unmarried couples or groups.”
Helen Boyd, author of the upcoming She's Not the Man I Married, will speak about how the struggles of trans people focus a new and useful lens on both the issues of gender equality and marriage equality.
The transgender rights movement combines aspects of the feminist and gay movements and sits at the crosshairs of the "one man, one woman" kind of logic that has been encouraging people to vote out of fear.
Boyd's marriage to her trans husband serves as a platform for her to explore the nature of identity, gender, and marriage and the way those very private aspects of a life intersect with very public policy.
INTRAA's Board of Directors meets quarterly. This will be the final board meeting of 2006. We will be electing new officers at this meeting.
Join us for our monthly meeting! This month is our Family Meeting where family members are encouraged to come and talk with other family members of transpeople. This is a pitch-in dinner meeting.
