Trans in my town: And so we begin

I have lived in this town now for a little over two years. Ever since I moved here, I have wanted there to be a trans support or discussion group. I was, in fact, a little flabberghasted that one didn't exist when I got here because it is a college town and there are enough LGB(T) people here that a trans support / discussion group should certainly be warranted, but when I arrived I found none.

I guess that I became complacent, because I did not start a group when I got here. In fact, I did not work very hard at starting one until this past summer. I just recently began the legwork to make sure that it would happen. I don't know why I put it off, but I did.

In any case, the support / discussion group that I formed had it's first meeting tonight. There were a grand total of four people there, and I think it went rather well, despite the low numbers. We checked in, discussed what we wanted from the group, had an open life discussion, and checked out in the course of an hour and a half. I found it to be productive and informative of kind of group that this town may be able to support.

All in all, I'd say it was a success. We look forward to the next meeting.
