INTRAA Urges Calm in Face of Recent Attack on Transgender Woman

The Indiana Transgender Rights Advocacy Alliance is deeply concerned about the recent violent attack on a transgender woman on the East Side of Indianapolis over the 4th of July holiday.

We are currently working with public officials and concerned community members to gather more information about the incident and to provide assistance and comfort to the individual targeted.

Any time there is news of an attack where gender identity and expression may be a factor, it resonates deeply and personally throughout the community. At this time, we are urging community members to remain calm. By and large, Indianapolis is a safe place to live and work, but at the same time we must all be vigilant to safeguard ourselves and fellow members in the transgender community from becoming targets of violence.
